New Magic Items:
Aethersteel Armor:
Legendary Armor
Attunement Required? Yes
Intelligent? Limited (Detects Alignment)
Used by: Any class that allows metal armor
Constructed from magically refined aethersteel, it offers superior protection at 1/5 of the weight of standard plate mail armor. The armor's luminescence can be dimmed on command. Treat this as the equivalent of plate mail +5, and it is completely resistant to rust and corrosion, even by magical means. The armor is not immune to heat or cold, but temperatures must be extreme. Aethersteel can only be made in one place, a blessed dwarven forge high in the Thurdona mountains near Thurgendrac.
The armor has three major disadvantages. First, it can only be used by characters of good alignment. If a neutral character wears it, it offers no advantage. If an evil character wears it, the armor itself will immobilize the user. Second is the cost. A standard set of Aetherium Armor will cost 50,000 gold pieces. Third, the metal has a fatal flaw against an Unholy Avenger sword wielded by a paladin. An Unholy Avenger that hits Aethersteel and does damage will actually score double damage.
Nightsteel Armor:
Legendary Armor
Attunement Required? Yes
Intelligent? Limited (Detects Alignment)
Used by: Any class that allows metal armor
Nightsteel appears as polished black metal filled with tiny points of light, resembling the night sky. Constructed from magically refined nightsteel built in a duergar's forge, it offers superior protection at 1/5 of the weight of standard plate mail armor. The armor's luminescence can be dimmed on command. Treat this as the equivalent of plate mail +5, and it is completely resistant to rust and corrosion, even by magical means. The armor is not immune to heat or cold, but temperatures must be extreme.
The armor has three major disadvantages. First, it can only be used by characters of evil alignment. If a neutral character wears it, it offers no advantage. If a good character wears it, the armor itself will attempt to kill the user by any means necessary. Second is the cost. A standard set of Nightsteel Armor will cost 50,000 gold pieces. Third, nightsteel armor has a fatal flaw against Holy Avenger swords wielded by a paladin. A Holy Avenger that hits Nightsteel and does damage will actually score double damage.
Orb of Ghodenaxx:
Legendary Weapon
Attunement Required? No
Intelligent? Yes (Knows Spells)
Used by: Any class
The Orb of Ghodenaxx is a legendary weapon that was lost during the War of Black Ash. The wielder of this weapon simply tosses the orb into the air, and it levitates to a height of ten feet. It must be able to levitate to full height in order to activate. Once it reaches its height, it simultaneously attacks every individual enemy target by firing a small concussive round at the ground directly beneath the target. It can fire concussive rounds to a range of 90 feet, and does not incur a range penalty. The concussive blast has a +10 to hit, and is considered a Type 3 (1d8) weapon. It may only be used once per day. The orb may also be used underwater.
The orb has an Armor Class of 25, and can withstand 20 points of damage before it is destroyed.
Glaive of Krull:
Legendary Weapon
Attunement Required? Yes
Intelligent? Limited (Possesses sonar to return to target)
Used by: Any class who can use bladed weapons (finesse weapon)
The Glaive of Krull is a discus-shaped weapon with five curved blades. It is a weapon type 4 with a +3 to hit, and a range of 120 feet. When thrown, it will return to its wielder, provided the wielder can still be seen by the weapon. It may not be used as a melee weapon. The Glaive of Krull has an AC of 20, and will be destroyed if the weapon takes more than 20 points of damage. The Glaive may also be used to protect the wielder as a Shield spell, giving the user an equivalent AC of 20, but the Glaive will absorb actual damage. The Glaive can be repaired to a small degree by a Mend spell, but major repairs require the use of a Lightning Bolt spell.
If the Glaive is destroyed, it will implode into five fragments and be randomly teleported to five remote locations on the world it resides. To reactivate the Glaive, a lightning bolt spell must also be used.
Sword of Voltronus:
Legendary Weapon
Attunement Required? Yes
Intelligent? Yes (It must find its wielder worthy (Lawful alignment))
Used by: Any class who can use bladed weapons (strength weapon)
For nearly a century, the legendary hero Voltronus traveled the world and helped people in need, creating legendary stories about how a single hero defeated mighty beasts. The sword itself is rarely seen unless it is being used by the wielder. The wielder must wear the Gauntlets of Lions in order to command the sword. The Gauntlets of Lions raises the user's Strength score to 20. To activate the sword, the user must move his gauntleted hands together and say the command word. The Sword of Voltronus will appear as the user extends his hands. Summoning the weapon or changing the weapon takes a full attack round.
The sword is a massive weapon, seven feet in length from its pommel to the tip of its blade. The weapon has a +3 to hit, and is a Type 5 (2d8) weapon that must be wielded with both hands. Besides the standard damage, the Sword of Voltronus also does an additional five points of burning damage for every 20 points of damage it inflicts.
The sword may also be converted into a throwing star by the wielder. The star is the size of a wagon wheel, and can be thrown for a distance of 90 feet, and will return to the user. The weapon does the same amount of damage in either form. The weapon cannot be used as a shield or deflect missiles.
The sword itself is a magical construct of an unknown element, and cannot be affected by rust of a Rod of Cancellation. However, the gauntlets can be damaged. The gauntlets each have an AC of 20, and can take ten points of damage. If the wielder dies, the gauntlets and sword will vanish and return to their resting place at the Chamber of Lions, and await its next worthy wielder.
Sword of the Minecrafters
Legendary Weapon
Attunement Required? No
Intelligent? No
Used by: Any class who can use bladed weapons (strength weapon) (Strength must be 18 to wield it.)
This Cinquedea-styled sword is a massive weapon. It is a masterwork sword embedded with diamonds, and was once a gift to the King of Quilar before it was stolen, and subsequently lost. The sword grants its wielder a +5 to hit, and is rated as a Type 5 (2d8 damage) weapon. The diamonds in the weapon are purely ornamental, and the weapon can be rusted or affected by magical means. A wielder must have a Strength score of 18 or better to lift and use the weapon. The diamonds encrusted in the weapon will re-sell for 10,000 gold pieces each.
